New Patterns: A Little Dark Humor & A Lot of Wool
Some designs come from a place of deep planning. Others sneak up on you when your hands are busy and your thoughts wander. These two patterns—though completely different—have something important in common: they’re both rooted in the heart of handmade life.
Homemade and Dead Inside – Cross Stitch Pattern
This one started as a joke—half survival, half honesty. Somewhere between feeding the sourdough and forgetting where I put my coffee, I thought, "Wouldn’t it be funny if..." and then realized, yes. Yes, it would.
Homemade and Dead Inside is a fast, colorful, beginner-friendly cross stitch pattern. It uses just six DMC colors and is perfect for a weekend project. Frame it, hoop it, gift it, or hang it next to your pantry shelves—it’s a wink to those of us holding it all together with needle and thread.
Homespun Mittens – Knitting Pattern
This pattern was designed for the very first yarn I ever spun. It wasn’t perfect, but it was warm and real and mine. These mittens are quick to knit—less than three hours per mitten—and only use 80 yards of yarn. Whether you’ve got thick-and-thin handspun or a bulky commercial skein, this pattern lets the fiber shine.
Sized for adult S/M/L with simple shaping and no fussy details, this one’s great for beginners and gift knitting alike.
I designed both of these as patterns you can start and finish in the same weekend. Because sometimes that’s exactly what we need: a reminder that we can make something, finish something, and laugh a little while we do it.
Thanks for being here and supporting handmade work that honors the slow, the small, and the slightly weird.
