How to Make Herbal Sleep Sachets for Restful Nights

Chamomile and lavender have long been used to support relaxation and sleep. These gentle, aromatic herbs calm the nervous system and soothe the senses without needing to be ingested. When blended into simple fabric sachets, they create a soft, natural sleep aid that can be tucked into pillowcases, drawers, or placed beside your bed.

This project is beginner-friendly and requires only a few ingredients. Whether you’re making one for yourself or creating a small batch for gifts, these sachets come together in minutes and offer long-lasting benefits. The addition of lemon balm is optional but brings a soft, citrusy note to the blend that enhances the calming aroma.

Materials

  • 1 tablespoon dried chamomile

  • 1 tablespoon dried lavender

  • 1 teaspoon dried lemon balm (optional)

  • Small drawstring muslin bags or scrap fabric

  • Needle and thread or twine (if using fabric)

Instructions

  1. Blend the dried chamomile, lavender, and lemon balm in a small bowl.

  2. Spoon approximately 2 tablespoons of the herbal mixture into each muslin bag.

  3. Tie the bag securely or sew closed if using scrap fabric.

Usage Tips

  • Place the sachet inside your pillowcase or under your sheet near the head of the bed.

  • Gently squeeze the sachet before bedtime to release more aroma.

  • Store extras in a sealed container to preserve scent until use.
